Lakshmi Rai (born 5 May) is an Indian film actress from Bangalore, Karnataka, appearing in South Indian cinema. Since her debut in the Tamil film, Karka Kasadara (2005), Rai has appeared in many successful Tamil productions, most popular being Kanchana and Mankatha (both 2011). Rai's most notable works in Malayalam-language films have been in Annan Thambi (2008), 2 Harihar Nagar (2009), Chattambinadu (2009), Evidam Swargamanu (2009), Oru Marubhoomikkadha (2011) and Mayamohini (2012), thus establishing herself as the most successful actress in the industry. She also enjoys popularity in Kannada and Telugu films, after appearing in Kalpana and Adhinayakudu (both 2012).Based on an online poll conducted by The Times of India Lakshmi Rai won the "Best Actor Award in a Negative Role - Female" for Mankatha. In 2012, Lakshmi Rai won the Stylish Star of South Indian Cinema - Femalat South Indian International Movie Awards SIIMA Awards 2012.
